We are inviting children and young people - equipped with a camera, a computer and above all their perspective - to explore cinema, photography and the barrier that both unites and separates these two arts. Organized into groups, the participants will go outside to film a series of scenes which will later be transformed into stills. Finally, a series of these images will give form to a photographic exhibition which will form part of a large collective exhibition initiated by five photographers and continued by all the participants of the workshops (young people and adults).
At weekends the workshop will be open to the general public (of all ages). For specific information, go here.
As in the case of all types of exploration, this workshop will include loads of adventure, travel, enthusiasm and creativity as well as improvisation and intuition.
The workshop is an opportunity to:
. Get a creative start in the world of film
. Explore from an entertaining point of view the techniques and tools used in cinema, video and photography
. Experiment with the expressivity of images
. Rediscover the city and express one's own vision of it
THE STRUCTURE OF THE WORKSHOP
Look! (At the CCCB workshop)
The workshop will begin with a visit to the exhibition and a discussion on photography, cinema and the relationship between it. Participants will carry out practical work on some of the fundamental concepts and values necessary in all photographic or cinematographic productions: framing, colour, light, composition, movement, the construction of a coherent project, etc.
Film! (Work on location)
Participants will work in groups of 4-6 students and, equipped with a video camera and accompanied by a monitor from the workshop, they will go outside to film their own scenes of the city. During filming, attention will be paid to the interest of the images filmed with a view to the future stills.
Capture! (At the CCCB workshop)
Viewing and comments on the images filmed. Participants will use a computer to extract fixed images (stills) of the most interesting and intense photographic moments. Finally, a sequence will be created from the stills.
Exhibit! At the CCCB
Each group will display its selection of stills on a platform situated at the end of the exhibition creating links and connections with the images of other groups. This way, the projects of all the groups which have participated in the workshops will work together to create a collective work which will be, at the same time, an exploration of the force and effectiveness of stills as well as a map of the city of Barcelona.
