BESÒS: from boundary to public space

After major work carried out in recent years, the river Besòs has become an important axis of the surrounding urban, economic, social and public space. But as a corridor for all kinds of flows, from people to goods, motorways to railway lines and electricity to gas, it also plays a vital role in the organization and regeneration of the metropolis. What used to be a border between urban peripheries is now a hinge space that looks beyond municipal scope and seeks to configure a new metropolitan city. The Besòs is now a prime space of connection in a context in which large-scale planning and urban vision are fundamental.
